How to Help

Cause We Care Foundation not only raises important funds that support single mothers and children in a variety of ways, we also take the time and do the research to ensure that the programs and initiatives we invest in will have the greatest impact. We assess and research, we fundraise, we invest in and we evaluate every program we support.

• 55% of children living in poverty in BC are from single-parent households. 81% of those households are led by a single mother.
• Female-led, lone parent families earn just 72% of what a male lone parent makes
• Like all parents, single mothers are trying to provide the best life possible for their children. They are doing it with less support and less resources than most families. 

Cause We Care Foundation has minimal overhead costs, with two paid staff members and a working Board of Directors. All of the money we raise goes to programs and initiatives that will assist the mothers and children with the greatest need. Your dollars go to support the following:

• Single Mother’s Support Fund
• Holiday Care Package drive
• After school care programs
• Summer break programs
• Emergency funding
• YWCA Cause We Care House

Your support will help ensure that single mothers have access to resources, education and training programs that will enrich their skills and personal capacity, allowing them to open doors to better careers, and to achieve economic security for themselves and their families.

Cause We Care Foundation is committed to supporting programs in the community that help single mothers to achieve economic security, improve their personal capacity, and provide enriching opportunities for their children.

For many years , Cause We Care has supported, KidsFirst an after school programs at 4 inner-city schools in Vancouver. Single moms with kids who are struggling with poverty require a few basic things – housing, safe care for their kids so they can work, and daily necessities like food and transportation. Pretty straightforward, right? Pretty immense hurdles for the moms, really. So, when kids are able to stay for a few extra hours after school, in a safe place with caring staff and creative, mindful activities, their moms can stay at work longer hours knowing they’re taken care of.

Cause We Care partners with corporations who believe in supporting the needs of single mother-led families and are interested in investing in the long term. We have had continued support from several committed companies who lend a hand and help us realize our mission.
