When Julia lost the father of her children, she found herself raising her family on her own while trying to figure out what came next. She knew she wanted to build a better future for herself and her children:
“I knew I wanted more for my life and for my kids, but the path wasn’t always clear,” she says. “At times it felt overwhelming.”
As Julia worked to find a way forward, continuing her education became an important step toward creating a more stable future for her family. But balancing the responsibilities of raising children on her own with the costs and demands of returning to school presented real challenges.
Receiving support through Cause We Care’s Single Mothers’ Support Fund in 2024 and 2025 helped ease some of that pressure, giving Julia the breathing room to focus on her education and the future she was working toward.
“That support gave me more than just financial help. It gave me breathing room. It gave me the ability to focus on my education and to believe that what I was working toward was actually possible.”
Since then, Julia has completed her bachelor’s degree and teacher certification and is now working as a teacher while preparing to begin her Master’s degree, which she expects to complete in summer 2028. Her journey has not only changed what is possible for her own family, but also shaped the perspective she brings to the classroom every day.
“Every day I walk into a classroom, I carry that journey with me. I understand what it means to struggle, to keep going anyway, and to believe in something better even when it’s hard to see.”
To the donors who make this support possible, Julia says, “Your support reaches far beyond the moment. It carries forward into our children, our communities, and the lives we touch along the way.”
And for other single mothers facing uncertainty, she offers a simple reminder: “Keep going. Even when it feels slow, even when it feels impossible, you are building something. And it matters.”
