Cause We Care House

Cause We Care is proud to have been the lead funder of Cause We Care House, a building that provides 21 units of subsidized housing to single mothers and their children in the Downtown Eastside. Operated by the YWCA, and situated above a full-service public library, this housing facility offers single mothers and their children a safe place to call home, and provides a path towards a brighter, independent future.

Aunt Leah's Place

Cause We Care has provided a grant to support the Thresholds program. This program provides supported housing and services for new moms at risk of losing custody of their child. Cause We Care’s grant will be used to purchase start-up household furniture and supplies for 10 single mothers who have graduated from the Thresholds program and are transitioning into independent community living with their children.

Cythera Transition House Society

Cause We Care has provided a grant to fund the psycho-educational programming offered at the Counselling Center, specifically a second drop-in group that supports mothers whose children who have been impacted by domestic violence and abuse. The group will discuss the impacts of abuse on child development, behavior and strengthen the parent child relationship.

Dress for Success

Cause We Care Foundation supported the Moms from Dress for Success Vancouver program, which empowers women, particularly single mothers, to achieve economic independence. For 25 years, Dress for Success Vancouver has helped women enter and remain in the workforce through professional attire, career services, mentorship, and leadership development programs.

Our funding supports single mothers in accessing the full continuum of services, from job-search preparation and interview readiness to job retention and career growth, helping them build sustainable livelihoods and long-term stability for their families.

Learning Disabilities Society

Cause We Care has provided a grant to support the RISE One-to-One Specialized Explicit Instructional program for single mother-led families. LDS’s programs provide equitable, accessible, and affordable access to customized learning support for vulnerable children who are diagnosed or have suspected learning disabilities. We are proud to have established the Cause We Care Bursary for Single Mothers at LDS to ensure their children have access to this critical support.

Mom2Mom

Cause We Care Foundation supported Mom2Mom’s Happy Healthy Children program, which provides direct financial support to single mothers living in poverty so their children can participate in extracurricular activities like sports, arts, and camps. These opportunities help children build confidence, learn new skills, and stay engaged in positive, enriching experiences.

Our funding helps support single-mother-led families, ensuring children have access to programs that promote growth, wellbeing, and resilience, while helping mothers overcome the economic barriers that often limit their children’s opportunities.

Mamas for Mamas

Cause We Care Foundation supported Mamas for Mamas’ At-Risk Comprehensive Program, which provides individualized support to mothers and caregivers in crisis. Through one-on-one guidance from social workers, clients access emergency supplies, counselling, support groups, and referrals to in-house and community services.

Our funding helps cover social worker wages and emergency supplies, ensuring single-mother-led families receive the care, resources, and guidance they need to overcome barriers, build stability, and feel supported in their journey.

YWCA Metro Vancouver

Cause We Care is proud to fund the YWCA Single Mothers’ Support Services Program, which is a free, facilitated peer-support groups that provide women who are parenting alone with companionship and community that is particularly critical during times of crisis. In 2023 the eleven SMSS Vancouver groups expect to serve 158 single mothers and 210 children in the program, plus an additional 550 single mothers will be served through one-on-one support.

Shelter Movers

Cause We Care Foundation supported Shelter Movers’ project, Exiting Safely, providing free moving and storage services to survivors of gender-based violence. Through trained volunteers and trusted community referrals, families can leave unsafe homes safely and with dignity.

Our grant will help complete 224 safe moves, supporting more than 450 survivors and their children, while expanding volunteer capacity and strengthening referral partnerships. Many families served are lone mothers with young children, aligning closely with our mission.

The Writers’ Exchange Society

Cause We Care Foundation supported The Writers’ Exchange Society’s Breaktime Program, which provides free, creative literacy programming for under-resourced children and youth ages 6–18 in East Vancouver. Through play-based reading and writing activities and one-on-one mentorship from trained volunteers, children build confidence and strengthen essential literacy skills.

Our funding will help pilot a new Breaktime Program format, supporting continued learning over the summer months — a critical time for children from under-resourced and single-mother families who may otherwise lack access to extra literacy support.

Promise Vancouver

Cause We Care Foundation supported Promise Vancouver’s Elementary Out-of-School Programs, which provide relationship-focused after-school care, day camps, and leadership opportunities for children and youth in the Downtown Eastside. Their programs help kids feel valued, build confidence, and empower youth to take on leadership roles.

Our funding helps Promise Vancouver continue to staff their programs with dedicated leaders who nurture strong relationships with children, youth, and their families, ensuring a safe, supportive environment for learning and growth.

SARA for Women

Cause We Care Foundation supported SARA for Women, a registered non-profit that has assisted women and children escaping violence in the Fraser Valley for over 30 years. Their programs provide transition housing, outreach, counseling, and legal advocacy, helping families rebuild safe and stable lives.

Our funding helps SARA for Women provide children from single-mother households access to extracurricular activities — including sports, arts, music, and STEM — supporting their development, healing, and social integration in a safe, nurturing environment.
